Delete your account
You can delete your hikomi account, and the data kept with it, yourself at any time: on the website, in the iPhone or Android app, or in the desktop app. It can't be undone.
How to delete it
- Log in with the account you want to delete: open gethikomi.com/app in a browser, or open the app.
- Open the account menu: tap or click your name and credit balance at the top of the page.
- Choose Delete account and data, and confirm.
Sign in with Apple works only in the iPhone app, so delete an account made that way in the iPhone app, or write to us as below.
If you can't log in
Write to us from the email address on the account, at support@gethikomi.com or through the contact form (choose "My data or privacy"), and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to show that the account is yours. We answer privacy requests within 21 days.
If you have a plan
- A plan bought on the website is cancelled straight away when you delete the account.
- A plan bought in the iPhone app is billed by Apple, and deleting the account doesn't cancel it. Cancel it first: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions (or use Manage plan in the app's account menu).
- Credits left on the account are lost with it.
What is deleted
Straight away: your account and sign-in details, your conversations with every character and what the characters know about you, the characters and voices you made, your credits and credit history, your settings kept with the account, reports you sent, messages you sent through the contact form, the records of your exports, your invite link and the record of an account made through someone's link (except as below), and the link to your Google or Apple sign-in. Our encrypted backups lose them within 14 days.
If you used Sign in with Apple, you can also stop hikomi using your Apple ID in your iPhone's Settings: tap your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple.
What is kept, and for how long
- Payment records: as long as the law requires for our accounts, no longer linked to your email or name.
- Invites: where an account made through an invite link paid for a first plan month that earned credits, the record of that (the two account numbers, the payment and the credits; no name or email) is kept with the payment records, for as long as they are.
- Usage counts: no longer linked to you, only as anonymous totals, for up to 400 days.
- Emails you sent to support@gethikomi.com: up to one year.
- Server logs, which name account numbers rather than people: up to 30 days.
- Encrypted backups of our database: up to 14 days.
What is on your own devices isn't touched: 3D models you added in the desktop app stay on your computer until you remove them (uninstalling the app doesn't; the encrypted copies kept if you turned on Sync are deleted with your account), and settings your browser keeps stay until you clear its site data.
For everything we keep and why, see the Privacy Policy.
